Super 8 Russian quartz chrome/B&W/Sound 1 min 31 secs
A piece marking the crossover between two nations of filmmakers (the Soviet Union and the USA) that, historically, had more in common by the fifties after decades of filmic cross fertilization than was politically expedient to acknowledge at the time. A sequence in one version of the soundtrack to Battleship Potemkin is crossed with a moment in film noir. The title alludes to formal, auditory and cultural meanings implicit in the word ‘crossover’ and the film, itself, is shot on Soviet quartz chrome super8.
